Hydrogen Sulfide (H₂S) Awareness Training
Compliance Standard: ANSI Z-390.1 - 2017
Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) is a deadly and toxic gas often encountered in general industry and oil and gas operations. This essential safety course is designed to provide workers with the critical knowledge to recognize the hazards of H2S and employ the necessary procedures to detect its presence and protect themselves and their colleagues. Upon successful completion, students will be certified and equipped to work safely in potential H2S environments.
What You Will Learn
This course provides a comprehensive overview of Hydrogen Sulfide safety. Key topics include:
Understanding the Hazard: Learn the specific properties and characteristics of H2S, common sources, and the areas where exposure is most likely to occur.
Detection and Monitoring: Gain practical knowledge of modern gas monitoring equipment and the proper methods for detecting Hydrogen Sulfide.
Safe Work Practices: Master typical site-specific safety protocols, engineering controls, and procedures associated with H2S operations.
Emergency Response: Learn critical, life-saving rescue techniques and first-aid procedures for assisting victims of H2S exposure.
Who Should Attend
This certification course is designed to familiarize all personnel with the dangers of working in an H2S environment and is appropriate for employees at every level, from entry-level to supervisory.
This training is mandatory for any employee who has the potential for exposure to Hydrogen Sulfide in excess of the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 10 parts per million (ppm) as an 8-hour Time-Weighted Average (TWA).
