Backhoe/Loader Operator Safety Training
Comprehensive Training for Safe Excavation & Loading
Course Overview
The backhoe/loader is a versatile and powerful machine, essential to construction, pipeline, and oil and gas operations nationwide and the Rio Grande Valley. This course is designed to provide operators with a strong foundation in the safe operation of this equipment, focusing on OSHA regulations, manufacturer recommendations, and industry best practices.
This training goes beyond basic operation, delving into the critical aspects of the OSHA Excavation and Trenching standard. Our goal is to ensure every operator not only knows how to run the machine but also understands how to create and maintain a safe work environment, especially regarding the prevention of cave-ins—the number one killer on excavation jobs.
Who Should Attend?
This program is designed for any person who operates a backhoe/loader. It is intended for individuals who have a basic understanding of, or are actively involved in operating, this type of heavy equipment.
Prerequisites: Participants must be at least 18 years of age, have some experience working with or around a backhoe, and have written approval from their employer.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certification card.
Refresher Training & Re-Evaluation
To ensure ongoing competency and compliance, we adhere to the following schedule:
Annual Performance Evaluation: Each operator's performance must be evaluated at least once a year by a Qualified Person.
3-Year Full Refresher: A full refresher training course should be attended every three years to cover any new changes in OSHA standards and reinforce knowledge.
Immediate refresher training is also required if an operator is involved in an accident or near-miss, is observed operating unsafely, or if workplace conditions change.
